I find there is only one thing more challenging and sensuous than watercolor...
“I try to capture the essence of the moment, not tell the whole story… "
Sorry, can't divulge the secret of getting into Vincent's bed but I can share a bit of my schizophrenic side and show a few of my traditional watercolors. Like many of us... I began my artistic journey in oils but once I was introduced to watercolor the world tilted and thus began many years of trying to grasp this illusive and beautiful medium.
Watercolor, for me, has a spontaneity, an excitement, an element of surprise and challenge that I cannot find with other mediums.
As artists we can find inspiration from the simplest to the most sublime, however, my greatest pleasure comes from those intimate and casually placed objects that make up our daily lives… the still life. My goal as a watercolor painter is to capture the essence of a brief moment in time, not tell the whole story. I'm always looking for those special subjects that are filled with radiant lights, intense darks and sensuous color.
